Another justification - for our RR anyway - for investing in the LR extended or some other good warranty (on MD rates, the cost of this claim alone appears to exceed the annual premium).

Well that is a result, a bit of lightly applied pressure on the warranty provider can sometimes be required, however in LR defence "external oil leaks" are excluded so you did well there! And at least with the engine out they will be able to see the whole engine to assess if this is the only leak......

Just got the car back after over 5 weeks in the garage for the engine out and Ladder Frame leak to be fixed.

Now being told that after initial inspection by another workshop they might have identified at least two leaks, the main oil leak being from the front of the engine, possibly behind the timing cover. For that, they need to remove the drive belt, pulleys and timing cover. They say once all that has been removed hopefully they can pinpoint where the engine oil leak is coming from.
