front 'upper' control arms and ball joints

Gents,

On my FFRR, an '03 BMW V8 model, and I notice a few things with the front end;

Light rattly "clunk" from the front over certain bumps in the tarmac. I can confirm that it isn't the sway bar links as those are relatively new, and the lower control arm ball joints seem to be tight, however when I put some pressure on the 'upper' arms (the ones fully at the rear of the front suspension), I notice that there is some easy movement in the ball joint ends and the bushes at the opposite ends seem to have a lot of 'twist' or play. My thinking is that it's time for new arms and BJs, but with regard to the actual noise (which becomes a violent wobble at highway speeds on occasion), would the BJs more likely be the culprit? Cheers,

Aaron

I asked the same question he other day, craig reckons that they should have a bit of twist in them.

The bottom end ball joints can be swapped over on their own fairly easily, as they bolt onto the rest of the arm. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks mate. I've gone and ordered new ball joints as well as arms just for precaution since my rig has almost 200K on it. Cheers,

Aaron
