I feel sorry for the normal hard working folk of Scotland who are proud to be part of the union and happy with the status quo. Worrying times ahead for them I feel. |

I've just read that Japanese bank Nomura is telling all its clients to pull their money out of Britain if there is a Yes vote and that the pound would drop in value by 15%.

The pound value is based on the GDP of the country, given that Scotland is actually a wealthy country when based on its GDP it will be higher in value than rUK's. The reason however that currency union makes sense is it allows Scotland and rUK to continue trading without added economic barriers. I personally don't doubt it would happen as it is in rUK and Scotland interest.

I like to think I am normal, I'm certainly hard working and clearly I am not a no voter, so if it goes no you wouldn't feel sorry for me? The reason I say that is not to be contentious but because I think its not about feeling sorry for people, I do think pitying someone is not terribly flattering to them. its about the future of a country and if it chooses the right to self determine its own future. At the end of the day the majority will determine the future and most will go on living as normal long after the referendum regardless of the outcome. I will accept the outcome regardless and carry on living and working without animosity if no or smugness if yes Edit - Sorry Stan I can't give an opinion as to the football results as I'm not a footballist ![]() |

I saw this in Campbelltown when I visited earlier this year. The memorial garden was built by her local friends in the area, not by her husband. Right behind is a tribute (no doubt deserved) to a local woman - 'a true Campbelltownian' - not some American with an English husband. It really seemed to be making a point, and not a very nice one

its all posturing on both sides, Scotland will and we all know should share its percentage of the accrued debt, just as much as rUK will for their own benefit negotiate a currency union. 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts |

I'm sorry I don't follow that. Surely the point that is being made is that a country within the UK is being governed by a party which failed almost totally in the elections within that country in respect of electing members.
Agreed but, when the dust settles, I think people are pragmatic enough to get on with it. John 2008 Stornoway Grey 3.6 Tdv8 Vogue 2005 TD6 Java Black Vogue - Written off!! GAP iiD BT 2003 Discovery TD5 Auto, Nanocom Evolution - gone to a new home! MasseyFerguson 152 - No electronics!! - Sold |

Loath to enter into political discussion on here, but a currency union is not going to happen. At all. Ever. For the UK to even consider it would be insane. Zero benefit to the UK, but massive risks and downsides. Anyone voting for an independent Scotland with knowledge of the economic facts must be a true masochist, or mentally challenged. |
