WD TV install for hard drive

Hi guys i have managed to install a WD TV via the aux port of the rse system, so i can plug my hard drive full of movies into the WD TV, the picture is perfect on the screens but cant get any sound thru the car speakers. The rse is set to av1 for video and aux for the audio but nothin, any help would be really appreciated.

You need to plug something else into the Aux in in the car & try the WD TV box on a TV in your house - basically narrow down whether the problem is with the car or the WD box

have a look at how many 'bands' there are on the stem of the plug..most times a mono plug wont work in a stereo socket . ... - .- -.

the plug that goes into the aux socket...compare that one with a plug that gives you sound ...

on the plug stem ( the bit that goes into the socket) there are black bands that show whether the plug is mono or stereo. ... - .- -.

the cable in question is the composite cable with the red yellow and white plugs on one end and a 3.5mm jack plug with three bands on the end of the plug that goes into the back of the wdtv box.

Sorry i think i may have started this thread off wrong by saying i had it plugged into the aux in the car.

I have it plugged into the red yellow and white ports in the back of the centre console with the other end plugged into the back of the wdtv, but am i right in think that the red and white is for audio and the yellow for video ?

Yes - sounds like the right connections - red/white are audio.

So that cable works on another TV & the SAME audio connections you plug them into in the car work with an iPhone cable ?

Have you got some phono joiners and another stereo phono lead to stereo 3.5mm jack you can plug into the 3.5mm socket?

This should work ??

Or is there a switch (virtual or otherwise ) that selects the audio output from the phonos instead of the 3.5mm jack ? .

Confused Baffled..... that's an analogue line level signal - not much that can go wrong.

All I can think of is it's something really dumb like the volume turned down or it's muted on the WD TV

Can you do it back to back - play the iPhone, then unplug & plug the WD TV in ?

How about sound from the iPhone with video from the WD TV ?

hi Joe i have another set of identical leads but no phono joiners, so you think you could get video and sound plugging it into the 3.5mm socket in the car?
