In order to swap out the battery do you need to undo the two hydraulic stays for the bonnet to open it further?

Unclip at the bottom of the struts but don't take the clips off just leaver them down a bit until they release then you don't have to spend the rest of the afternoon on your hands and knees looking for the one that flew off some where 2008 MY Supercharged

Adam, lever out the lower clip by around 2mm then pull the lower ball socket apart... Then when its off, push the clip back into its original place (so when you push the ram back on, it automatically locks back on) IMPORTANT POINT! Put the end of the ram you have just removed UNDER the corner of the under bonnet sound proofing carpet. (That way, when you lower the bonnet to re-fit the gas struts they DON'T SCRATCH the front wings!!!) Do the other side the same, then secure the bonnet in the upright position using BOTH of the clip sliders! (your bonnet is aluminium and will warp VERY VERY EASILY!!! Just takes a gust of wind!)
