My 2 cents.

First of all, if his car had been a 2007 instead of a 2003, the glass wouldn't have smashed!

Now my rant Very Happy

This is exactly whats wrong with this country! Everyone automatically looks to blame the police every time something happens. YES there is CCTV that makes it look like the cops went over the top. BUT the old gimmer paints a one sided picture and Noddy, quite rightly points out that things aren't exactly black and white.

70 years old doesnt mean weak and doddery! I have personal experience of a 72 year old navvy that wouldn't put my 25 year old mate down. He had him in a bear hug, feet off the ground trying to bite his head. Took 10 minutes of severe action to get him off Shocked No doubt if anyone had been arsed enough to print a story it wouldn't have read well.......

The fact of the matter is that the guy knew what he was doing. He might be trying to claim that he's a doddery moron to get out of several offences, but hands up who believes that bo Censored ocks.

YES it appeared to be an overreaction but, tough Censored . The guy made his bed. He failed to stop for the police after a confrontational stop. Both the police AND the gimmer will be high on adrenalin by this point. The pursuit would have made things worse and the traffic cops are trained and programmed to react in the way they did. He was STOPPED by the stinger. Not because he chose to. They then had to MAKE SURE he didn't move again. IF they hadn't and the guy had gone and ran a kid over, the headline would be very different, but would still blame the police. 'Why didn't they smash his windows' would be the cry

I can't believe some of you EXPECTED the cops to ask him to open the door? Perhaps they should have made him a cappuccino so they could talk it over like adults.

Yes, they overreacted a bit. But it was just a bit. If he had stopped and stayed stopped, none of it would have happened. He would have got his £30 ticket and been on his way.

Were creating an environment where the police will eventually be afraid to do their job. Then everyones up Censored creek. If this had been the USA, and I know it's not, the old guy would be up for: Reckless endangerment, failing to yeild and Attempted murder of a police officer. He would be up for the death sentence in a dozen states!

Look at Raoul Moat as an example. The moment he died EVERYONE was blaming the police, 'taser' this, 'talk him out of it' that. Rubbish. This murderer shot a cop in the face, shot a young girl in the face and murdered her boyfiend. If anyone thinks he deserves anybodys sympathy or protection then raise your hand. I'm surprised they could be bothered trying to talk him out of suicide at all...........

We had a 65 yr old ex-bare knuckle boxer in the other day. The kind you put up against gypsies and wins. If you put this guy in cuffs, he'll bend them to the point where they break. He can bend a casco around his knee and give it you back. Officers with TASER had to put him on his arse and even then, he pulled out the barbs and told them to turn the voltage up a bit! And thats at 65yrs old. He doesn't look much to look at either. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

the police have a job to do and usualy those who complain have a hidden agender out in the cities etc i am wondering if the old bloke had turned the table and injured a cop would this thread still be up and running. media medling is what this is. cops are by no means above the law but they have a job to do. chastising the officers for carrying out a drill to extract the occupant and maintain the shock of capture and take the advantage is unfair for those who have not experinced the upredictability of a situation. all they have is thier training to fall back on.

would the same be asked if it was a 20 something and driving a ford escort with loud music, perhaps not, why would the policy change because he is old and drives a FFRR.

in the most part please do a job to the best of abilities and if smething goes against the grain people get upset and call them bullies our society has acceptable policy and rule of law. discretion is good but an upredictable law breaker is worse

just my thoughts Thumbs Up 02 Range Rover HSE Zambezie silver 4.4
