Light bodywork scratches and air-con pong

I have just noticed two VERY LIGHT 4" vertical scratches in my Java Black paintwork. I use Yellow Carnauba Wax which gives a fantastic long lasting shine but contains no 'cut'. Does anyone think that regular black wax if rubbed vigorously into these light scratches might remove them? or is there a better way. These are very light scratches in the very top surface of the paint.

Every morning as I start the car I am greeted with an unholy pong from the air vents inside the car like an un-washed dish cloth. I only get this problem when the car is here in Greece and never when I am in the UK. At the moment here it is very hot and humid. The smell lasts for about 20 seconds then clears and is OK for the rest of the day but returns the next morning. I have tried an AC cleaner/de-sanitizer bomb (an aerosol that is fully released into the cabin with the AC on full belt with full recirculation) but this seems to have made the problem worse. I do not want to have to drive the 120 miles round trip to the stealer's If there is something else I can do. Any ideas?

1. You need to use something that will cut the paint to get rid of light scratches/swirls. Something like AutoGlym Super Resin Polish or Meguiars ScratchX or SwirlX.

A polish cuts and a wax seals, for a good job you should polish then wax with 1 or 2 coats. This should be done twice a year min to protect the paint from oxidization.


2. Do you leave the A/C on all the time? Mould usually only grows when it's OFF. Also do you leave the re-circ on Auto-Recirc? How cold is it? Sometimes when they need re-gassing they dont get cold enough to kill the spores it can allow mould to grow...

If the scratches are not thru the clear coat, and Land Rover uses a lot of clear, take it to a professional
body shop to be removed. Just had it done on mine. They lightly color sand (3000 grit) and then polish out. Let the pros do it. Cheers!

Thanks, I pick up a can tomorrow.

I can't see water collecting under the car at the moment so I suspect the AC drain may be blocked. This would account for the smell if stagnant water is not draining.

Can anyone tell me where the drain exit's under the car?

Romania 2019 Range Rover Vogue 2.0 PHEV Santorini Black

There are actually two drains, on each side of the gearbox towards the rear. At least that's where water pours from mine when AC is on.

Does anyone know if the two drain tubes originate from the same place? I don't want to inject the cleaner into the wrong area.

Ok, I did it. Tired of running both RR's to body shop to have clear coat scratches color sanded and then buffed so I watched some you-tube videos on color sanding and buffing then tried it. Scratch X and Scratch Doctor and then like do not have enough abrasives to completely remove the scratch so I started with 3000 wet/dry sandpaper letting it soak in water for and hour then keeping it constantly wet, lightly sanded (in same direction) scratches rubbing maybe 6 times lightly then looked at scratch and sanded a few more times. The clear coat is now a haze but scratch is gone. Then using Meguiars Diamond Cut 2.0 and an orbital and FOAM pad (not wool as could burn thru CC into paint) started going over. The Diamond Cut 2.0 is there strongest abrasive and in about 10 minutes was shiny again. Then waxed and Voila. I did watch a lot of videos before I tried it though. Good luck!
