The windscreen wipers ran off engine vacuum so when you went up hill they went grindingly slowly, then down hill they'd be full speed again. Full of character that car was. |

Not forgetting the 3 speed gearbox and no synchro in first gear. No big end shells, the white metal had to be melter onto the conrods and then honed to fit the crankshaft...Ah the joys of vintage cars |

My Dad had one of these, the Ford Escort! He had that from when I was born in 1955 until we got our first 'new' car which was a 1965 Ford Cortina Mk1 which had the new fangled 'Aeroflow' ventilation!!
