United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue TDV6 Corris Grey

I was lucky enough to be involved with the official launch of the L322. Not that good on names but remember talking to Gerry McGovern who was also the designer of the original Freelander. He explained to me that at the time they were designing L322, the idea was to get the feel of a luxury yacht interior in to the new range rover. Hence the strong wood overtones and complimentary leather trim. Having nvere been on a luxury yacht, I had to take his word for it.

I also went out in it with Roger Crathorne, their chief test driver. Little know fact.... he was the first person in Britain to get a speeding ticket in an L322, even before it had shed it's disguise !!

There's a prototype L322 in the Dunsfold Collection, as they say probably the only one remaining as they were supposed to be crushed.

Click through to the Gallery and the Range Rover collection.

Also there's an interesting test mule L322 used for the L405 and L494 development.

The 1st sketch look like something we would have drawn in high school (ok, my drawing would not have been quite this refined...) Laughing

I like the way it features 4-wheel steering.

It also becomes clear why people try to put 30"+ wheels on an L322 Shocked Rolling Eyes

Now if someone would chop the top on this it would look very much like the sketch. And be fit for the next episode of Roger Rabbit Cool

(wife thinks I'm nuts - prob right, too)

Indeed.

You can see the style of the early 19" Vogue alloys in the sketch, even then...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

We'll at least we know where the L495 came from as well. It's the 3rd picture (described as "radical front end treatment"). Thumbs Up
