Laminated glass has it's advantages and disadvantages, Advantages include better sound insulation and security, down side is if you have to get out after a woopsy, you can't smash the glass and climb out. As far as strength goes, toughened glass is a lot stronger, and harder to brake |

Those old S class 'Diana' Mercs defo had double glazing, sort of sealed units.
