Venture cam retro fitting

Can anyone advise what is needed to get a venture cam installed on a car that doesn't have the dock ie never had it fitted?

Its a completely different system in the pre-touch screen cars

you could create something similar though.

TV in Motion systen - to allow the TV to operate with the vehicle moving - that would also provide a line input.

You can then get a wireless camera & receiver off ebay that will do the job - I did this many years ago, basically to view the blind spot behind a trailer

Aha, you've looked at my car details in my profile, which I haven't updated since buying a 2007 car!

Will change it now...

i'd thought it would be to much trouble fitting an OE cam..what about these wireless reverse cameras from maplins for instance. ... - .- -.

I don't really want to spam something up with aftermarket stuff. Just after knowing what bits I need to get so I can see if it's worth it. I'm not afraid of doing the installation assuming there isn't some reason why it can't be done at all.

i see your point.. Wink

i've searched the forum and theres loads r the cam but i cant find anything re retro fitting it.....i should imagine that you would have to get a wiring loom as well as enabling it in the ccf.. ... - .- -.

The camera and bracket are easy enough but the charging dock will be difficult , the loom even harder but the real problem would be re writing the car configuration files to accept the companion camera . I'm sure its possible like every thing is possible but,,,, 2008 MY Supercharged

I have an iid tool so the ccf is doable. I think I saw it in there the other day but would have to check.

So I need a loom, dock, camera and bracket (do you mean camera mount?)

What makes the dock and loom hard? Do you have experience or are you guessing? Don't mean to be rude but guesses are of limited help.

I'll have a look on lrparts.Ru later and see if I can find all the bits.

Gap diagnostic site lists the venture cam as a configuration item, so that seems to be a non issue (assuming it works!).

Looking at the dock, it doesn't appear to have much in the way of electronics in it, although I admit there's not much to go on. I wasn't sure whether there would be a receiver module as part of it, or whether it is just a charging point and the receiver is elsewhere:
http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/1016..._g_cat_06_

If the receiver is elsewhere it might already be installed or might be in a different part of the parts manual. Anyone know?

I'm tempted to track down a used cam and see if it works once i've enabled the CCF. Unless anyone local can offer one up for testing?

The loom and docking cradle are hard well its the loom , I'm pretty sure previous people in your situation have found out that Land Rover won't sell it but you could always try a breakers but it still comes down to the CCF or Car Configuration Files although you can see it on your IID you wont have the actual software written in it has to be done when the car was built , who knows what will be possible in the future but right now an IID cant put that there .
I have no idea what a fault mate can do but so far any one trying to retro fit a venture cam has come up with the same problem ( also my terminology is probably way wide of the mark ) but over the year many have asked non have fulfilled Crying or Very sad

It's funny isn't it no one has EVER asked to retro fit the Censored Censored TPMS Rolling with laughter 2008 MY Supercharged

Axle, can you link me to some threads either here or on other sites where someone has tried to retro fit a venture cam in a range rover and come across these issues, as when I searched I was unable to find any (hence my posting of this thread in the first place).

No I didn't bother in the end. I only wanted to be able to see back to my trailer whilst towing so just used the test mode for the reversing camera in the end.

hello,

after asking everybody and nobody can help me, i did it !

here is the solution to retrofit a venture cam on a RR TDV8 2008
you need the cam, the craddle and a IIDtool to activate the venture cam in the car.
the loom is already present in the original electrical harness
just a little caution to dismantle the upper and lower glove box !
