AV Off Message

So, what's failed now?

I have a 4.4 BMW engine L322 with Bluetooth and Venture Cam.

The problem I have is in the message centre it keeps toggling "AV OFF" every 3-5 seconds. when it does this it also breaks into say the radio and mutes it until the message goes off. annoying at best

Any ideas

Thanks

you've got a fault with your radio/CD, or maybe just the on/off button. So your radio is switching on and off and putting the message on the screen. I would bet if you set your message centre to display say MPG rather than Radio station or CD track your radio will still be going on and off but you wont get the message.

It was a fault in the Nokia box in the back. It has 2 fibres gong into it. One sends data and one receives data. All to make a loop. If the Nokia box fails it won't send out the data it recieves. This trows out the error. The solution is to take out the fibres from the box and plug the fibres into an optical loop back. You need to make sure that the loopback is the right mode sinle mode or multi mode. I can't remeber which mode is on the vehicle. You alo need to make sure the connectors on the Ennis of the fibre. Again I can't remeber what they are. Black box steel these optical loopback. Once you have done this the Nokia box, which is the hands free unit will not work of course.

Hope that helps

Would replacing the nokia box not be the better solution, after all hands free is pretty much a legal requirement...

Of course but. That was a quick and cheap fix. Again if I remember correctly, the lead time was quite long for the box and they weren't too available. I don think they are cheap either.

In truth it was time that beat me as I was going away in it. But I suspect the price would be a bit rich if you had the earlier 322. Mine was a 2004

Only if you want to answer the phone, sometimes its better that people can't get hold of you. Laughing
