hi mark, i think you will find that the bi xenons still have a halogen high beam lamp but on the xenon lamp there is a solinoid shutter set up, so when you flick high beam the shutter flips open giving you the high beam on the xenon lamp as well as the aligon lamp.,

I'm pretty sure you're right daveo, I'm sure my dipped xenon flicks up with the main beam. 2006 Mercedes CLS

i did come accross a mod, they had fitted after market xenon packs to were the haligons lights had been and they worked fine..but xenons need a few minuets to get to there working temp, and as when you flash some one it would be a few seconds only and they wont be warm enough,so unless you do a lot of country roads and use high beam alot i cant see the benifit..
