Sounds like a sticking caliper.

The pads are probably a bit rusty at the edges and not moving freely in the caliper. Take them out, scrape/file the rust off and put lots of copper grease on them so they don't stick again. Previously..

Agree with contra on that, was what happened to mine, not sure if they are exactly the same type as mine but the pad carrier corrodes and binds the pads in, best to remove caliper and carrier and clean the carrier out with a file where the pads sit then plenty of copper slip on the pad ears.

I'll be interested to hear the results Sandalwood as ours has been doing this at the front since new discs and pads were fitted. Started off as squeal when the brakes were applied so removed pads, copper greased them and it disappeared... And now it comes on intermittently in a straight line but will sometimes do it on slight left steer... And always stops if the brakes are dabbed. Suggestions have ranged from sticking caliper to dry bushes. Doesn't do it in wet weather either. Ongoing and very irritating so good luck |

Mine made a bit of a noise which came and went but the real test was (as someone has pointed out already) that a rear wheel got hot after even a short journey pointed to a sticking caliper which I had replaced - fixed. Geoff |

Took vehicle for 20 minute drive last evening and noticed squeal. Immediately checked caliper temperature (by touch) and calipers on all 4 wheels seemed cool to touch. |

Same here Sandalwood, no obvious symptoms of sticking front calipers which are Brembo. Our front brakes started giving a little squeal under light braking last night again too... So I'm again moving away from dry bush theories and leaning back towards some form of pad related friction.

Its the disc which gets hot, not the caliper as such, which is why to check after 10 mins because they will all be hot after a drve but if one is still warmer to touch than the rest after 10 mins your pads are binding. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Tried "touch test" on rotors last evening, no apparent temperature difference from one side to the other. |

Purchased an infrared thermometer today (on sale at local automotive store). Confirmed rear disc/caliper on drivers side was 3 - 4 degrees C warmer than passenger side. It is the rear wheel on the drivers side which seems to make the noise. Everything seemed to be making sense until I checked the front discs/calipers and once again the drivers side was 4 - 5 degrees C warmer than the passenger side and there does not appear to be any noise from the front wheel! |

I would say that is in tolerance when mine binds, which it has done many times now the caliper is a good 20-30deg warmer (one will boil spit the other side wont) technical i know.....
