Transmission question/error

Hi guys,

A few times now I've been driving normally (usually on hot days) and receive an error on the dash and the transmission limits itself to third gear only.

If I stop and restart the car goes back to normal and all gears are usable and no issues what-so-ever.

Again, today a warmish day, about 20-30 mins driving, mostly traffic, the car threw up and error and limited itself to third gear.

I have checked with my IIDTool and the error is:

U0155 Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster

Any ideas what this could be?

Many thanks.

Flat Battery when you put the key in the ignition lock. Code is thrown and then this restricts car to 3rd gear only.

Clear the faults charge the battery and it will be fixed 100% Thumbs Up

May be other problems but the fault UO155 is the above.

However if you get "Transmission Overheat - Safe mode" that's a different story altogether....

Stan it a known RR issue its when there is not enough power in the battery when the key goes in the immobiliser. Not all immobiliser checks complete and the car is limited to third gear.

See my fix above. Thumbs Up

Hi Gaz,

Battery seems to be fine though, car used daily.

Hi Gaz,

But this happens while I'm driving and up until that point the car was operating fine.

Cleared the fault via the IID. Is that enough or I need to do something else?

That should be enough. I had the same fault and phoned the Indy we use and fix is as posted above. Never happened again after charging the battery.

I would test battery/charge

Seems odd.

If battery is good and fault is cleared & fully reset than all should be OK.

OP said it happened whilst driving...i asked re the dash as if the speedo is not functioning then the wrong info is sent to the ecu and this limits the gears to 3rd. ... - .- -.
