HDC inactive

Today i went to lunch out with the FF. After lunch when i started the engine i ear a sound and saw HDC inactive in the panel about 2 seconds no more. only that. Then everything normal.

This time i parked the FF on a sidewalk in a strange position. But last week when i started the engine at the garage i eared the signal sound but can't read any message! Only today!

No lamp waring never appears. i used this summer the HDC sometimes to downhill, and when i did use it the light appears normally on the panel.

Strange thing! Did anyone had this experience... any thoughts?

many thanks,
bet regards, Ex-FULLFATTY now downgraded

Probably the fairly common issue of low battery voltage especially if the RR is not used very often or for short trips.
It's just a sign to say time to charge your battery up.

I have had this plaguing me for the last few years. can only put it down to battery not being at completely top voltage, which is obviously required for this system check on startup. It is worse in the winter when colder. Would love to turn this check off (take note GAP), only other solution is to plug the Ctek in every night Wink p.s. HDC works fine .

Many Thanks, i'm so happy to don't be a problem but an battery issue Very Happy

Weejock you are completely right, the RR is not used very often and this weeks only for short and city trips!

Joe, did you replace the battery? Or didn't fix the issue when you replaced? By the way, why is worst in winter? Ex-FULLFATTY now downgraded

I also got this problem when driving along, it turned out to be the tracking/alignment of the wheels and steering wheel were out. The steering wheel didn't sit perfectly straight when driving in a straight line and this threw up the same fault code. a 4 wheel alignment sorted the problem.

I've not used the FF since Saturday (It did a trip of 200miles before going on the driveway and was sweet..)

This morning had to call Green flag man out for the first time..

Totally Flat battery....

GFM arrived within the hour and checked the battery... got a nice print out from him to say it advisable to change it but no major concerns..

He connected it up to the booster and she started the straight away...

This is where I need the help..

1- She is now lit up like a Christmas tree (Warning triangle light centre stage, ABS light etc)
2 - I have a message - HDC Fault - System is not available
3 - The two bottom lights are constant on the Air suspension and nothing happens when you move the knob up and down and does not clear with steering wheel left to right process .

As recommended by the GFM - (ECPs said the equiv Bosch one was less rated)
I have been to Euro Car parts and bought a new Exide Premium Battery 017 4 Year Guarantee

The Exide Premium car battery range, is ideal for modern vehicles which rely on more and more electrical equipment. The Exide Premium Car battery range covers over 90% of the UK vehicles and are maintenance free for total peace of mind.
•Amp Hours: (Ah): 100Ah
•Cold Cranking Amp: (CCA): 900CCA

It was dark when I got back.. so have not fitted it using the Forum WIKI

My questions are -
Is all of this battery related and will disappear when new one fitted or is there something else I will need to do...
Is the car safe to drive so that I can put more charge in the battery to check if the issues go away...

Thanks in advance

You need to turn the steering lock to lock (Turn al the way to the left, then all the way to the right, then back to centre, this will clear all the "light faults". You need to do this whenever you disconnect the battery (or it goes flat!). .

I was wondering if this might be the cause of my latest woes.
Big Cry

Battery seems fine, starts well and doesn't sound like its even stressed, and once started I don't get any issues until, while at a standstill, I turn the wheel full lock right, then I get BONG HDC inactive, ABS orange light and and orange exclamation mark (which I haven't looked up yet).

Turn everything off and on again, its fine, I can sit there for ages and no BONG only when I full lock right.

I have the battery on charge at the moment and will pop down the local tyre place for a tracking check later.
Thinking back I have noticed a slight steering wheel vibration of late, nothing major but enough to make me think about getting the tracking done when I have a spare 5 minutes, this has forced the issue I guess.

Hardly surprising with the Censored pot holes round here Sad

I am certainly not an expert, but given you only get an error on right hand full lock, perhaps the steering angle sensor could be the source of the error

I believe you can reset by starting up and moving lock to lock and holding for six seconds at full lock on each side

I am sure someone more knowledgeable than me will be along soon with more suggestions Thumbs Up 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!
