YNI500040k - No Longer Available

Hi All,

I'm looking to get hold of the above part which is no longer available from Land Rover as an OEM component.

Does anyone have any information showing what this loom consists of, and where it connects in the vehicle? Is there any diagrams available?

If it is unavailable I'd like to try and make up my own version - I'm a pretty competent DC electrician.

Matt

Ok so I guess it helps to see what you have before you go sourcing parts...turns out I've already got this part fitted, but my interior fan does still run for some time after the ignition is switched off.

If anyone is interested, this relay link appears to use the PDC buzzer power feed as its switch to operate a relay that controls the power feed to the HVAC panel. Meaning the HVAC panel is only live when the PDC system is live. I removed the plug between the relay and the PDC panel to check the relay was operating correctly, and it was. If you were missing this part you could easily make it up at home for the price of a relay, some cable and connectors.

With this part fitted, how long should the fan keep running?

Matt

I'm not exactly sure here, but do you have a flat battery issue caused by the heater fan running when it shouldn't ?

Could be a faulty FSR (Final Stage Resistor) pack.

Easy fix and fairly cheap.

Of course, could be wrong.

What is your objective ?

Sorry gents...

In my original post I was trying to source this part (YNI500040K) to solve the issue of little interior fan draining the battery when the vehicle should be asleep.

Seeing as it wasn't available any more I was asking if anyone had any information on where it connected in to the system, and what it did.

Today I've been doing various things, and during this I found I already have this part fitted, but my fan runs on.

YNI500040k is basically just a relay link harness that uses the PDC buzzer power feed to switch the feed to the HVAC panel. So this means I either my PDC system isn't shutting down as it should, or I'm expecting it to shut down too early.

So with YUNI500040k fitted, how long should the little interior fan run? (the little one which causes all the battery drain issues, as opposed to the main blowers)

I also changed the FSR a few weeks ago, there was no difference in battery drain or blower control/heat etc.

Sorry for the confusion,
Matt

Sounds suspiciously like the HEVAC unit (blower control panel) is playing up... I would try replacing it first... Thumbs Up

Thanks for idea, I've been trying to source a facelift panel but haven't come across one yet.

Would you have one available?

I need to get these silly issues out the way and finish my facelift, I'll be needing a quote for some 2012 headlights at some point Craig.

Where is this "little" fan? Do you mean the one for the interior temperature sensor behind the dash? Does this go off when the car shuts down after @ 10 minutes (red light on gear lever selectortray). Or is it another fan? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Just curious, how do you know the air temperature sensor fan runs on when the vehicle is asleep?
What sort of battery drain are you experiencing?

Thanks for the replies gents, yes Joe 90 - the one for the interior temp sensor. I'll measure the time it runs for, but it seems to run for a lot longer than 10 minutes, the red light also stays lit for a long time, I'll measure this too but I guess it should go off at the same time as the fan?

Nicedayforit, after reading many posts on here and sitting in the vehicle with the doors closed (with and without the doors locked) the current draw remains at around 0.8-1a (and the fan can be heard) until I remove fuse 27, which is the glove box light circuit.

Fuse 27 supplies the BCU which in turn controls all the interior lighting in the car and a good bit besides.
If you have a drain of 800mA to 1000mA you have more significant problems than the air temperature sensor fan which is a very small fan and I would imagine only only draws about 20-30mA if that. I think it could probably run permanently and not have a significant affect on the battery. Obviously it should however shut off after the car goes to sleep.
I would be inclined to look elsewhere for the more significant battery drain(s).
The initial favorites are drain down thro the alternator and the FSR. Even though you have recently replaced the FSR I wouldn't take that as a guarantee all is well with it, they have a habit of failing even when new.
After that I'm afraid it's down to methodical fuse pulling and recording until something shows up, very tedious and time consuming but you will find the fault(s). I wouldn't be surprised if you had more than one drain.
Best of luck. Thumbs Up
