What tools are you trying?? I've got two generic OBD readers and neither want to talk to the FF, my IID will chat all day long to it though...!!! Pete

One of them was the T4 in a LR workshop and the the other is the EAS reset tool from RSW Solutions. I have no reason to believe they are at fault ----------

Yep, they should work... I take it you have had a good look at the connections in the port as they can get damaged, it's usually pretty easy to spot the one that looks different, you do have to be a contortionist to see well though.... It will work with a meter end into it but not work with the fine pins on the OBD plug to the tool Pete

I took the socket out and inspected all connections, and they are fine.

Today I disconnected the head light ecu's, ABS ecu and air suspension ecu one by one and tried to get contact between every disconnection. I got error messages in the instrument panel display as I should, but still no communication with error codes. ----------

An update from me after some investigation.

Here is a very informative clip that shows you much better than I can explain, so have a look at that first. https://youtu.be/0e-9_FuMWzI

Over to the Range Rover specific:

Pin 1 is 12 volt when ignition is on
Pin 4 is ground
Pin 5 is ground
Pin 7 is signals from engine ecu and automatic gearbox ecu. Should be between 10 and 11 volt.
Pin 8 is signals from transfer box ecu, abs ecu, right headlamp ecu, left headlamp ecu, steering angle sensor and instrument pack. Should be between 3,5 and 4 volt.
Pin 9 is ground
Pin 16 is 12 volt permanent

Note from the video that you must disconnect the battery when you check the grounds.

My error was that I had only 0,2 volt on pin 8. I disconnected all connectors I could get at one by one and suddenly ended up with voltage on the meter when I disconnected the steering angle sensor. That one is hard to get at, but you only have to remove the panel above the pedals and feel your way around there. You can feel it's the correct one because the wires are rapped in a plastic sleeve rather than the usual cloth harness. Google SRO105071 for better pictures of the sensor. ----------
