Hi All,

Looking for a bit of guidance. Completed an oil change on saturday which went fine apart from have a load of oil leaking from the filter housing. On refilling and testing the dreaded bong "Check coolant level". Promptly did so only to find the reservoir empty, filled with about 2 ltr of water. Went out to the car last night ( not used ) and needed to put another 2ltrs in. Drove about 35 miles and need to add more water. No signs of contamination either in coolant or oil. Limited signs of water any where in the engine bay other than below the oil cooler. It has had a new radiator about 25k ago.

My question is where do I start as it looks like some dismantling is required to identify where the leak is coming from?

if your coolant level was ok before then you've dislodged a pipe whilst doing the oil change..

My leak was this after a rad change.. water pump bolt and O ring .

looks like the undertray is coming off Sad

The altenators do like to spring leaks on earlt 4.4's too

spent the last hour looking but no sign of any leaks

yep and after switched off for a while also.

strange that you have to add so much coolant after a relatively short drive..sometimes using kitchen towel tissue can find minute sprays..

I think this is a hangover from my oil change. Left of image is front of car looking from under near side wheel arch. It appears to be loosing about 1ltr every 20 miles.

Found it - back of the engine above the bell housing. Looks like the engine to changover valve hose/coupling.

Any idea of which part I need?

Glad you found the leak as for where I got the O ring...my Mrs works at a car dealer so she brought a box of various O rings home  If it dont work.......burn it!
