Let her drive my new car for the first time on Sunday and she's caught a piece of jewellery on the piano black trim near the gear selector... Only about a 1" mark but it's there and I can friggin see it!! Not happy.

Any suggestions for polishing it out? Any miracle cure?!

Depends on the depth of the scratch
Grade 400 then 1000 then 2000 wet & dry, cutting compound (Farecla G3 then G10) polish Autoglym Resin, then a good quality wax

Black marker pen?

I thought it was plastic so polishing would not work,would it? I panic about this happening in mine. I think you will need to talk to a specialist interior repair company. How much is the new part?

Ouch, not a good thing to happen, I bet wife banned from the FF now then! mine would be  If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

As has been said if the scratch is pretty shallow it should polish out, but may require some light sanding if deep. Don't sand through the paint though...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

You could either register and post your query (quick easy and free)... and you definitely will get a response; or you could search the forum for people who've had similar scratches; or you could browse the forum for detailers/ cosmetic repair services in your area.

That forum is populated by people who are extremely obsessive about the aesthetics and cosmetic finish of 'the car', whether it's worth £1k or £100k.

I don't think it is plastic. Depends where on the car it is precisely. The part that surrounds the climate control is plastic, however the part that surrounds the centre console is wooden veneer, painted than lacquered.

If you look carefully at your door card storage covers (the edges of) when open you will see what I mean - these are painted, wooden veneers.

Have polished a few scratches out of mine with farecla and zymol..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

If your anything like me you probably need a detailer to do it for you, you must have priced the part up out of curiosity?

I let my wife read this thread with the intention of scaring her into what could happen. She said "With the amount of money you pay for the car it shouldn't scratch when she drags her (keys, bag, phone etc) across the piano black finish and it's rubbish if it does!

I can't win.

If that's the case...the amount of money mine spends on face cream and she shouldn't get a wrinkle, but me...if beauty is only skin deep, she's inside out...
