Hi folks,

I've done over 20K in my L322 TD6 on an 02 plate and so far apart from a level sensor, a F/O/S airbag and a fuel pump its mainly been wear and tear things like brakes and servicing. ( Touch Wood )

However while in for its level sensor the garage warned me about my rear tyres - the very very inside edge of the tyres are worn almost to the core! Now I check the tyres now and then but never that far in so I was a bit shocked.

They checked all the rear suspension and bushes to find no problems so suggested I check my camber and tracking which I have booked in at CLCM Edinburgh for Tuesday and I've also ordered 2 new tyres.

The wheels in question are unfortunately the replica 22inch overfinch style wheels, I've never had a buckle or flat spot...yet...and the car drivers well and looks the part so I'm quite happy with them. The tyres are 285/35/22 and are again budgets but hell I've done offroading and snow driving and they have never let me down so again I'm quite happy with them.

However I'm now wondering if it may be the fact I tow my race car and various other cars on my double axle braked trailer that could be adding more weight onto the back axle and therefore bringing the suspension down and affecting the camber?

Ive done approx 3000miles of trailering from Edinburgh to Knockhill I dont know how many times, Cadwell and I recently towed a griffith from Derby. The cars have towed havent been that heavy but just wondering if anyone has experienced this tyre wear at all on 22inch alloys or from towing?

Thankfully I've just prov bought a big Merc 709 race van so that will take over the heavy towing commitments.

I had mine on 22s for a time.......utter nightmare....and I never towed once. I won't bore you with my tale of woe but unless ur alloy wheels are genuine Overfinch etc coupled with good tyres - you have little chance of ever getting peace. Even then it's a consent battle making sure everything stays aligned.

Bottom line is ....20s are really the biggest size you wanna go for both comfort and not shredding tyres.
If you wheels are replica 22s I recommend ditching them for a set of genuine 20s ......for a much easier life

19s are the biggest land rover recommend for the td6. 20's are listed as not an option in the accessory brochure, so whilst they should be fine, they were never available for that vintage.

I went from 18s to 19s due to this.

That said, if I could get a set of supercharged or style 11 I think they are, I'd have them on in a heartbeat.......

As an aside, the car has self levelling suspension, so in theory, the angles should not change as load increases....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
