Hi all, I am about to take the plunge and buy an L322 to replace my trusty old P38. Time will tell if this is a good idea!! The car I am looking at is a 2003 vogue non-touch-screen sat nav.

In the P38 I have an aftermarket Parrrot Asteroid head unit which gives me ipod, aux in, bluetooth phone and audio - ie pretty much everything you want. It took 15 mins to fit

So, I have been researching on here to find out how to get similar functionality in the L322. Oh dear.... confused!

So, apologies for starting a new thread on what is already a fairly well discussed subject, but having searched and read loads I am struggling to summarise my options.

All I really want to do is have an aux in that I can connect to my Android phone, which I use for stored music and also streaming over 3G (Deezer). The phone is a Galaxy note II so it is big enough, and has a good enough screen, to use whilst on the move, as long as I put a mount for it somewhere sensible.

So question 1 - does the 2003 vogue have an aux in? If not, can it easily be added and, if so, how?

Assuming the answer to the above is no or too expensive, then having the ability to stream bluetooth audio would be just as good, better in some respects.

So question 2 - if the car has bluetooth already fitted as an option, does this have audio streaming or is it only for hands free telephone?

and question 3 - does the bluetooth upgrade support more modern phones?

If the bluetooth upgrade will not support audio, and the aux in option is a no-go, then I guess I will have to go the iPod route.

So question 4 - to add iPod, am I right in thinking that the intravee is the way to go? I saw some sad news that the developer had passed away, is the intravee still available?

And finally - there are several threads which seem to conclude that ripping the whole lot out and replacing with aftermarket is the way to go. It seems a real shame to ditch the HK audio setup - so,

Last question - can you connect a different head unit to the HK processor/amp?? Alternatively, can a Parrot be made to work with the HK?

Not to sure about aux in etc, but pretty sure that this is the same system as fitted to my BMW M3, I went for a Dension ice link, just connect to the Ariel input. Volume control from steering wheel, and charges phone/ I pod. About £100

Intravee was great in my old touch screen

You could have a Parrot bluetooth kit installed too but not to stream music as the "low input" wiring for the handsfree speakers are only on the fronts...

Simplest way is to install a Parrot MKi9200 - it's what I use and have the phone (Samsung S3) on a Brodit mount - all nice and tidy.

Thanks Simes - how does the Parrot connect to the HK system? I am pretty familiar with their products but the Parrot setup I have in my Subaru intercepts on the speaker wires so bypasses all of the built in audio stuff. Not sure how you could intercept the speaker wires with the HK...

Mine was fitted with a proper set of leads that connected it into the amplifiers, not the speakers, so that when listening to music you still get the fm traffic flashes and voice of the sat navigation lady!

The chap I use fitted the lot in about an hour.

That does sound like a very good solution then - what is the OEM setup in your car? Pre touch screen satnav and HK?? What year is it?

When you play music, does the audio from the phone come out of all the speakers?

Mine is the 2004 vogue with HK audio and DSP. Music comes out of all the speakers from the phone by either bluebook or direct from the USB connector. Telephone calls come out of the front speakers only. Mine is pre-touch screen.

The other ways are

1. To have your BM54 radio unit upgraded by Baris (on forum) to provide an Aux In

2. To use the audio inputs (mono) for the TV

3. Try the audio inputs for the Tape Unit

All three will require you to run a cable from back to front.

If I'm not mistaken the aforementioned Baris can also do a mod to enable streaming via bluetooth..! Ash

Not the most elegant solution, but the 03 has a cassette player, so you can get one of those AUX IN cassettes. It's easy, cheap and you don't have to modify the car. Also, it's a stop gap measure while you explore other more elegant or permanent solutions.

I am using the cassette aux method as described above, cheap and cheerful. It's only a temp until I have time to fit an intravee. Really I would like to replace the entire head unit for something a bit more modern, but I am yet to find a solution for the vogue with DSP. Bushy

Hi all thanks for all the very helpful replies

I picked up the car a couple of days ago and am very pleased with it - however not being able to play music from my phone is a problem that needs to be sorted asap - can't be messing about with CDs gave that up ages ago!!

I am very pleased with the sound quality of the OEM stuff and the general look and feel of it, so want to upgrade rather than replace.

My preference is to use bluetooth streaming - getting Baris to mod the unit seems the way forwards for this but I have not always had brilliant experiences with bluetooth audio in the past - can be hit and miss especially older bluetooth with newer phones - so I was wondering if anybody has first hand eperience of this mod and can give me some feedback?

I also plan to update to DVD Sat Nav. Those two mods will get the ICE stuff up to where it needs to be for me
