Anyone got experience of dealer discounts. Do they knock much off main dealer used stock, is it worth haggling or not? Anyone got experience of good or bad (zero) discounts?

Previously I've managed to get around 1k off used stock... but they are now short of stock with the huge sales boom. So don't expect much of a discount at all.

This is true: I found a 5yr old D3 with 95K being sold via the dealerships. They are selling FFRR with over 75K on the clock and up to the original 02 plate L322's. There is even a P38 51 plate for sale at the moment Discovery 4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 Hard Top *Gone:L462 D5 HSE LUX, L663 Defender 110 HSE, Discovery 3 HSE, 2014MY Range Rover Sport 5.0 Supercharged AB Dynamic; L405 Exec Vogue SE 4.4, 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography, Defender TDCi XS CSW, Defender TD5 HT, Vogue SE TDV8, Vogue TD6, RRSport SC 4.2V8, Classic 3.9 Vogue Auto, Land Rover Series 3 SWB |

depends on the dealer and the deal they bought the used vehicle in at, I once bought a 12 month old RR and yes did get £3k off, other times managed to only get around £1 to £1.5K - have nanaged to squeeze a bit more in real terms by getting extras thrown in FOC or at cost. It also depends if you have a trade in, cash deal or finance. Sometimes if the delaer is doing finance he has more room to play with...

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Not sure what to do now. I don't want to buy on the crest of a wave, only to find the arse has fallen out 4 months down the line. Prices are inflated at the moment, I bought my last range rover at the bottom of the price drop for 19k ( for a 3 year old vogue). The same car would be 30k today! |

That's why I am out in the short term. Back in when those prices fall. |

I test drove a TDV8 a month ago, the day I sold my Disco2 privately the TDV8 dropped by £2700, so I bought it! |

Just out of interest , I have always got a discount off every 2nd hand car I have ever bought, the FFRR being no exception. The FFRR was up at £46,000 screen price, so I got £2000 off (was trying for £2500 but they couldn't go to that) and also traded my old car in as part of the deal. Did it on a Land Cruiser years ago aswell, when 4x4s were more specialist purchases - it was just coming into summer so no one in those days wanted a 4x4 for summer, just convertibles, so I got £1000 off a £11,800 car and also said my only issue was lack of space on the drive to park it, so they took my mums old Ford Escort in part-ex to secure the deal. Unless it's a brand new model coming out and they have no reason to discount due to demand, there's never any reason to pay the sticker price. You guys need to haggle more, there's always another dealer somewhere who does want the business and probable follow up servicing profits. Steve

If I was you mate, I'd just walk in and be honest - say what you've got, and that's all you've got. Its worth a roll of the dice, and you never know what's going on with the dealership/salesman that morning/afternoon.
