L322 Nicer Than L405 - Anyone Agree

Hi all

Was at my local dealer today to check why my deployable steps were re-deploying when they shouldn't be and whilst it was being looked at I thought I would have a look around, starting with the baby RR and working up to the daddy.

Ive seen the Evoque before and am not inpressed, far too small and not worthy of that name IMHO so moved on to the new RRS in AB spec which is quite nice looking but bonnet grills and a bit too bling spoil it a little. Sits nice and the seats are very comfortable but not that different to the Evoque inside i thought. Plastic seat backs and cheap quality leather, no thanks.

I started to make my way over to the big fella on its own in the corner and it looked nice from the front, the LED DRL's do look good but the closer I got the more I was disappointed until i opened the door and really couldnt believe it , it was pretty much the same as the other 2 and no where near as luxurious as my S/C AB that was outside.

I'm sure its a better car and all that but this was a Vogue SE 4.4 V8 D and was £99k, very plastic inside and almost Volvo like. Right there and then I made my mind up that my 2010 MY S/C AB is a keeper, which is most unlike me, I already have the brochures for the RRS and 2013 RR at home.

Anyone else find this or just me?

Thanks

Carl

I agree the front looks nice, especially the DRLs, but there's just something about the rear end that makes me keep thinking "SPORT" every time I see one. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

never have taken a liking to the l405, although its bigger it looks to much the same as a kia/kuga etc..

the stature of the l322 is what makes it special... ... - .- -.

L322 all the way for me, but if I had to change I would go for the new sport as I think the exterior works on that :)

The L405 is a nice car but it's road presence has somewhat diminished due to it blending in with all the other jelly mould shaped cars that it can sometimes be unrecognisable whereas the L322 does stick out from the crowd

But would I have an L405 .... Jury's out in that one

L322 is an Iconic car its the biggest and the best 4X4 by far.

The L405 is a nice car but it's to similar to the rest of the range now so i'm not sure at the moment.

We will have to wait and see.

We could all be surprised as the car will undoubtedly grow on us all.

I think is a "Better" car it just does not look right and does not feel quite right if you have been driving the L322 for last 10/11 years.

Same for me, was also at the dealer last week and looked at all the models in detail inside and out. I have a client who bought himself a new L405 AB. It just doesn't do it for me. The dealer confessed he preferred the look of the L322 as well which I found amazing but told me I should drive one as they do drive so much better so he says.
I haven't driven one yet but I don't like the look of the new model and don't see myself buying one because it just drives better.
I'll keep mine in good shape. Probably need to wait for the next new fullfat as great design seems to skip one generation. Classic looked great, P38 so and so, L322 a modern take on the original, L405 again so and so.

I thought the L405 was gonna be the absolute best thing known to man and make my L322 feel instant old hat....but to be honest when I first eyeballed it at the dealers it was an underwhelming experience to say the least. It's a nice car for sure and drives well but I still prefer the shape off the L322. Also some elements of the interior of the L405, such as the steering wheel design just make me think a late L322 is still the ulimate ffrr to have.

If the L405 pricing wasn't quite so arrogant I would probably have one of those. It's newer, lighter, a lovely dynamic drive, but for the 100k required I want Bentley quality interior, not what's on offer.

And as above, if I had to it would be the new Sport in 5+2 charged guise.

Yep 2k on the l405 with vogue starting at 135 k for poverty spec.

New sport seems to be starting at about 96k for basic version but I think the emissions fall into a lower category Thumbs Up Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

hmm no got to be honest , the l322 now looks very old parked up next to the 405 and the sport, l322 ride a little better on rough stuff but that is it, the rest like chalk & cheese. Far to many gone...
