2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey
Warranty Claims

Hi,

I was just looking for some advice before I take my L322 2008 into the dealers for some rust that has appeared on the underside of the top boot hatch (the lower lip where it sits on the lower hatch) and the driver side sill. The car is from the dealership down the road with full dealer service history and was faultless only a few months ago when I picked it up.
This damage/ rust seems to be from the inside out (sorry no pics)?

Do you think it will be covered under the warranty?

Thanks for any advice,

Lee

Hi,

I note you said the affected areas appeared to be fine when you bought the car. I never noticed areas of subtle corrosion on ours until after buying it, the upper tailgate being one such area. The MD repaired all issues I raised with them.

This information might assist you, if you've not already seen it:

1. Main Dealers, Multi Point Inspections & Warranties –
As at 2013, the Land Rover UK website assures customers that approved used Land Rovers undergo a comprehensive multi point inspection and states that all vehicles are given a comprehensive inspection by Land Rover trained technicians. The website states:
"Everything from the paintwork to the performance and safety is checked. Should any faults be found with the vehicle, they are rectified prior to display and sale using only genuine Land Rover parts. The inspection always includes a complete engine preparation, a road test and final inspection before the vehicle is professionally valeted.”

2. LR Paint Surface Warranty – Valid for 3 years from the car being new.

3. LR Anti Corrosion Warranty – Valid for 6 years from the car being new.

4. Previous thread/ image of the start of corrosion to our upper tailgate:

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic19717....r+tailgate

5. Previous thread recommending that once your corrosion is made good, to have the repaired areas waxed to try and prevent recurrence:

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic20080....r+tailgate

The upper tailgate corrosion is a known L322 issue and your 2008 car should hopefully be within the 6 year warranty for a full replacement upper tailgate, provided they accept that the car's history is right and they have no queries on any previous non approved repairs to that tailgate area.

I've never read anything about rusting door sills on these cars but others have much more knowledge/ experience than me. If it was me thought, I would follow the same process and logic as above.

Hope this assists and that you get it all sorted Thumbs Up

Leem5 - I had some bubbling starting on my front door pillars. Very few and in a small area. I pointed this out to the dealer and they replaced under warranty. Don't know if its a known problem like the tailgate but they did do it without fuss. MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

Ok, just a quick thank you from myself gents for the information regarding my tailgate. My wife picked the car up yesterday after the warranty work was carried out to the tail gate and a little touch up paint on the sill.

A new part was fitted and I have been informed that the finish is excellent.

Thanks again

Lee
