United States 2007 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black
Thoughts? Are you a RR purist or a RR modifier?

I love my 07 SC, and I really don't want to mess with what the smart people at Land Rover designed too much (as it is my favorite iteration of the three "versions" resulting from the two face lifts); however, I'm not a fan of all the grey plasticy bits. Also, I love the color black. So, here's my photoshopped version of what I'm thinking of doing.

Thoughts? (I've got thick skin so I won't chew your head off for being blunt and honest.)

Now (stock):

The Plan:

Here's the list in case you're OCD like me and have a specific note or idea:

1. Side Vents (Painted Java Black with charcoal grey/black matte or gloss mesh)
2. Hood Vent (Painted Java Black)
3. Grill (Painted Matte charcoal grey boarder with matte or gloss black mesh)
4. Door Handles (Painted Java Black)
5. Mirrors (Java Black gloss caps)
6. Retractable Running Boards (Silver painted matte or gloss charcoal grey/black)
7. Rims (Buy black RRS 9 spoke 21" or dip my RR SC 20" matte or gloss black)
8. Lights. I have no freakin clue what to do about the grey-heavy head lights and rear lights

Well, y'all. Let me have it. And show me what you've done too if you think it will help me in my decision here.

Thanks! 2007 Range Rover Supercharged

Scotland 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV6 Santorini Black

Hi,

I've seen pictures of your 'stock' car on the forum before and it looks superb. For me, your car, as is, looks like a proper, classy, expensive Range Rover.

Your mock up, to me anyway, looks like it's trying too hard and actually if not already dated, might quickly look very dated; and yet, most of your 8 point mod list amounts to subtle mods (If colour coding, I wouldn't be inclined to mix and have areas of gloss paint and also areas of matt finish). Overall, maybe it's just the matt/ all black wheels against the all black car that just seems 'too much' for me.

Your 'stock' car will definitely stand the test of time and will look 'just right' for years to come if looked after, which clearly you will do.

The only other thoughts I would offer for now, from your list, would be:

4. Door Handles (Painted Java Black) - some members say the original handles can be difficult to paint from a longevity point of view. A number of people endorse buying stick on pre painted door handle covers from Powerful UK.

8. Lights... the grey-heavy head lights... - The only thing that stands out to me from your headlights on both your 'stock' and mock images is the orange vertical indicator strip which, as is often referred to, could be "de tango'd". There is a 'how to' on the forum about taking apart the headlight units and some people either stick on a silver or grey reflective strip over the original orange strip or, as at least one member has done, carefully remove the strip and have that strip vinyl wrapped before sticking it back on, as per this image (hope he doesn't mind me showing off his idea):

It's your car and whatever you do, it'll be right for you Thumbs Up

I think it looks great as is! Thumbs Up

But, since you asked.
Side vents - nice idea. I like that.
Door handles. I like that too. I just hope there aren't any problems with the painting.
Mirrors - can't tell the difference in the photo, so I'm neutral.
Rims - no. I like the silver.
Running boards - again, silver Thumbs Up
Grill - nice idea. I really like that, BUT the grey in the headlights MUST match, or it doesn't work. No idea how the change the colour on the headlights, but if you can manage it, Thumbs Up

If you want it Black then make sure the Wheels are High Gloss Black they look so much better.

Its your car I say the choice of wheel & Grille colour is yours to make Thumbs Up

PS: LR do special versions too....

PPS: If you only change Wheel & Grilles colours its VERY easy to switch it back again.

Your all black representation looks surprisingly good Cool . . . never thought I'd say that as I like the cars as they came from the factory !
I believe, as has been said above, that standard cars stand the test of time however.
The all black does look like it's trying too hard.
Personally, I like the black steps and door handles, side vents, bonnet (!)/hood grill, but I don't think dark rims suit it.
I'm toying with ideas of what to do with mine and keep looking at other peoples efforts - decisions, decisions !

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Like it, but would do the wheels a dark anthracite rather than black, otherwise they seem to get lost in the rest of the blackness. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

To me it looks suprisingly cheap and I'm not even a purist. But the wheels and the sidesteps are to much for me. But hey it's your car, so why ask, do what you want, go for it.

You didn't do the headlights (see what Googsy did)

I like it stock, I like all colour coded, it's your car.

If I mod something, I aim to ensure it can be returned to stock, even if this means carrying a spare (e.g. vents/grilles) in the garage. .

How about a very dark copper for the wheels? Then I can decide whether to get my 22's done that way Whistle
