Hi all

Can someone with a 2010 MY tell me if the rear plate is screwed on by 2 x screws / bolts or if its stuck on like the earlier L322 please? I recall my previous models were stick on but the 2010 S/C I've just bought has screws through and I'm dreading taking it off fearing the f***king useless dealer I bought it from has decided to drill holes in the tailgate?

Depends on the supplying dealer, they fit the plates however they choose.

I would have thought there are inserts in the tailgate to screw the plate to though, they won't have drilled it (corrosion risk).

Mine is stuck on.

Mine too. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thought so, can't wait to see what they have done underneath.

Anyone got any tips for preventing corrosion, rust inhibitor then painting etc but how can I get both sides without removing the inner trim?

Regardless of model year there are receivers for screws in the tailgate - every RR I have had though has had the number plates stuck on - I always stipulate to a selling dealer absolutely no screws through my plates or i will not be taking delivery - it's a pet hate of mine - they always look with screws through them

If they have drilled it simply remove the screws dip the threads in waxoyl put a dab on the hole and refit.

If they drill it then the scraps of metal stripped of their zinc protection will also rattle around in there and be a rust attractor.

I hadn't realized there are fixing points behind the plate so fingers crossed they used those and my concern is premature

Our RR is screwed!

We've just changed our plates and the front where screwed and rear stuck, but underneath were 2 pre made holes, sort of shaped to accept fixings, but these had just had tape covering them and then the plate was simply suck over the top

Just had a look and the screws are in the upper corners so not in the same place as the engineered fixing points that I have seen online. I assume that the dealer has decided to screw through the body and have purchased some rust prohibiter and a touch in pen to sort the hole then will apply some automotive hole tape before sticking a new plate over.

Cant believe somebody would think it a good idea to get a drill and start drilling the body on a car that was £80k only 3.5 years ago, makes me wonder what else said dealer gets up to
