help!!

Ok its raining again but I have a big problem, the FF is parked up and the key is out of the car, my brake lights are on and I cant turn the ignition on when replacing the key, I have taken the fuse out so not to flatten the battery, ( number 9) but still unable to unlock steering.

I had inadvertantly left my sunnroof open by about 2 " last night and water was on the rubber mats, is there a get you home mod so I can dry up things?

Please help as Im now stuck at flippin work Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

first thing is to disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes and then reconnect ..make sure you turn the steering wheel fully left then fully right after the reconnect. ... - .- -.

I think you may find your battery is substantially flat even though your brake lights are "on".
A jump start or battery charge should allow you to get the key to turn and start the car. Thumbs Up

search my posts had same fault turned out to be ignition switch not ignition barrel had to take center consul out to get to the thing. the switch comes off barrel ,take switch apart and use plenty of switch cleaner and paper towels then use some plus gas to lube up, take your time and save a few quid , had this prob over 12 months ago now ok have hawkeye diagnostics for l322 td6 in the manchester area ,pm for deatalis.

+1 for flat battery, only takes a small drop to render the car immobile..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

thank you all for the very quick reply's chaps, well I've had to leave FF at work as the battery was so low the even boosting off the discovery would not do a thing, not even able to unlock the ignition!
So now its on charge ( new one to be ordered very soon) but I need to dry out the electrics Big Cry , I have taken the side panels off and centre consel side panels but cant see many ecu's, found the headlight level and the other one next to the accelerator peddle but the seem all ok.
the channel either side of the seats where the main loom sits in is very wet, any ecu's further back that sit this low?

If only I can get the FF home could do more but with out it unlocking I cant even load her on the trailer!

Boy the joys of Green oval ownership.....nothing changes does it! Rolling with laughter If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

well had the battery recharged and this morning on my break I fitted and ......the FF started up Thumbs Up I did the steering thing and just let it tick over for a bit before had to go back to work....BUT after my shift finished, 2 and half hours later......the ff didn't want to know, brake lights on again, battery had got flat AHHHH it did unlock doors on the key remote though.

Ok is there a reason for the ignition lock not able to release the battery has 12.4 volts, should unlock in my mind as its has done before with no problems, even when turning the engine off then take key out and replace in the lock disengages quickly.

I'm getting a new battery tomorrow so hoping it will unlock and nothing like its a once only turn key home jobby!

Grrrrr I'm now wondering if I did the right move by buying another green oval. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I had a myriad of problems, windows going down on their own, any door left open for more than a nano second, ignition sticking etc. Was trickle charging battery as I thought I had replaced 18 months ago after it had sat dead for a year with an "unknown" ignition issue (turned out to be the instrument panel), anyway I hadnt changed battery and was still running the original!!! God knows how it lasted.

New battery 6 months ago and (tempting fate) not one issue Thumbs Up 2013 L405 Autobiography Baltic Blue

thanks guys, hoping its the battery ( 2 years old according to the date on it) , just need to get it back home, will look at the ignition lock too.

Not sure how it works but as the FF is now technically dead how does it know when the battery is reconnected that it remembers the transponder in the key?

I know, I know it a silly question Embarassed If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.
