Anyone know what the difference between the ZF 6HP26 AND THE LATER 6HP28 is ?

i think the '28' will take the extra power the 5.0 produces.. ... - .- -.

Mostly Jag biased as that's where I got it from but it's the same box just without the transfer case.

The -28 has a much improved torque converter lock up, can handle more torque, and shift as much as four times faster than the original -26.

Maybe Iv'e got the "28" bit wrong then as the new gearbox is apparently off a 2008 R/rover 4.2 supercharged, so what gearbox would this have ?.

It's just that they said the box was from a 2008 SC and that two of the numbers were different and that they would have to check with ZF wether it would fit my car which is a facelift 55 reg 6 speed.
So I assumed it must be the 28 model.
