That allows you independently control the temp coming out of the facia vents. A sort of fine tune if you like Should've been old enough to know better...doh!

for instance you can have warm air around the cabin with cool fresh air coming from that centre vent or the opposite config.. ... - .- -.

I understood it to be relative to the footwell temp, as oppose to independent. Ie warmer than or colder than, but still changing automatically.
