I have a problem with my 2010 R/R Vogue 3.6 diesel and wondered if someone can identify the cause of a steering shudder when braking over 50 mph as I have spent a small fortune trying to rectify this.
I have had new discs and pads, new control arms, wheels balanced,n/s front caliper replaced and still the problem persists.I am a a loss of what to do next, please help if you can.

I take it you have had wheels balanced?

You have covered most of the bases with what you have changed for the front. I had a judder on mine turned out to be contamiated pads and discs from a leaking gaiter. There was black greasy residue round he inside of the wheel rims which had been spun off the disc. I solved it by swapping everything on the front end.....
Upper and lower arms
Inner and outer track rods
Both calipers
Discs and pads.

Was fine after that.

Are you positive the judder is coming from the front. The 3.6 is notorious for rear caliper seizure. Take it for a run and check the rear discs for heat when you get in, is one hotter than the other? Leave them for 5 mins, then as crude as it sounds spit on the disc, if you have a seized caliper you will be able to tell which is hotter if either. You can get a judder from the rear discs you would swear was from the front! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The rears when seized heat up the rear wheel on the offending side too, so can easily be checked by one wheel being hot

Thanks chaps for the prompt reply- the rears seem fine with no noticeable difference in the temperature.

In that case change front wheels to rear and try again? Worst case, can you get/borrow another set of wheels to try?

With the UK roads as they are wheels/tyres go out of shape easily!

What brakes have you had fitted? We have experience of vibration from most NON OE makes unfortunately... Brembo brakes on the FF are very susceptible to judder/squeeks and vibration using cheap components! So much so, we WONT fit any NON LR brakes any longer on the Brembo equipt cars...

The discs are Eicher and the pads Pagid! On inspection they seemed to be ok with no uneven wear or scoring.

I had the front disc checked with a dial gauge, this showed that the discs were out of true.I have had them replaced and now the brake shudder has been sorted.
