Chuffed!

I bought a mk4 Sat Nav from a guy on here some time ago and it was described as faulty and came at the right price based on its faulty laser . Needless to say it wasn't on my list of priority things to do at the time so I left it.

I bought a new replacement laser from Hong Kong around the same time and finding myself bored this morning, I decided to open up the unit and swap the laser, not expecting it to work.

It only works perfect! Got 3D colour maps now instead of that old horrible map. Well chuffed!

Just need a newer disc now Wink as I'm running the original 2002 disc that came with the car!

Can anyone tell me what the latest firmware is and do I need to upgrade this? It says SW4-1/91 top right

It's great when you pull your finger out and get a long standing issue sorted with the full fat. Similar thing happened with mine and I now have the MKIV working fine and am also listening to music through my phone/bluetooth.

I've gotta say Noddy, you appear to blessed a very lucky man Very Happy Fair play to you Thumbs Up

I brought a unit for another car, fair price for fault, tried to fix it and ended up making it worse! No luck here Big Cry Better to be irresponsible and right, than to be responsible and wrong.

The other good thing is, the radio/cd is staying on as well now. I'd posted a query some time ago on here regarding my radio/cd going silent after 2 minutes 40 seconds constantly http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic17709.html Since I refitted the Sat Nav, it hasn't don't this! Weird and a double bonus.

I tried upgrading the firmware using Matts download facility. I burnt a disc but when I put it in the unit, I get the on screen display saying loading software, but nothing else happens. The screen reboots over and over but I don't get the second on screen message saying it will take 6 minutes etc. anyone had this?

Not me. When I've updated it's always been smooth and easy.

It was too good to last!

I tried installing the V32 software again this morning. The screen went blank, then the red LED went out on the Sat Nav. I now have the old fashioned menu on screen and I can't get the disc out as it won't eject.

Help!

Tried that Stan. Disc has popped out after holding the eject button in for around a minute

Still haven't got a power light though? I can hear the disc reading inside but no Sat Nav now

Right, this isn't looking good. I just did a search and found this

http://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/showthread.php?p=247242#post247242

Looks like the software I've tried to load has done something to the Nav unit. Not happy

similar story!

similar problem here too. i bought a bmw mk4 unit off ebay, initially i could get nothing but a flicker of blck screen from it, the seller suggested i uprgraded it to colour! with a link, i did this and it worked. only thing was, it has the bmw logo splash with white side stripes. i tried to downgrade it, and then upgrade it with matt's range rover splash screen, on downgrading it, it went all 'basic' and blue font like an old TV i then had a problem that the radio went off after about 3mins, but came on again if i turned off an on. and no nav option on the screen. i managed to make it work again, -after endless nights reading how to do it on bmw forums....by disconnecting the battery and went for another v32 (range splash) upgrade, and it worked, but with the bmw splash still! radio all working ok. so i guess i will just have to have the bmw splash, which i can live with. not sure i have the bottle to mess with it again!

I burnt another disc. The second time, I used a DVD and burnt at 1x speed (couldn't go this low with a CD). Worked fine with this disc.
