Hi Was wondering if somone could point me in the right direction?

I have a 2006 TD6 Vogue and last month had the dreaded SUSPENSION FAULT message bong up on the dash.

it cleared very quickly and until yesterday had no issues since.

Now suspension fault then inactive then max speed 30 mph then cooling down.

all these messages popped up at motorway speeds 70mph and didnt affect the car in any way.

all messages cleared within 5 mins and i didnt stop untill i got home.

when i got home i put the car in off road mode and measured the height in each corner

Front Right 850mm
Front Left 850mm
Rear Right 830mm
Rear left 830mm

re checked this morning and found

Front Right 840mm
Front Left 830mm
Rear Right 750mm
Rear left 785mm

Now i am guessing it is not suppose to go down so there must be a leak somewhere.

am i correct in thinking if there is a leak the compressor is working overtime to maintain the car height and eventually overheat?

would make sense as the issue only appears after a long drive.

I am going to try and spray the bags with fairy liquid later today and see if i can spot any leaks but any other advice would be appreciated.

is it ok to drive the car or not at all?

Have you started the car the next morning ?
Not necessarily a leak… mine will lower it self over night
(parked on a unlevelled drive)….then as soon a I put the key in the next morning
Car “level’s” itself free use of "RSW" all comms to anyone nearby

They all settle and if ground in not completely flat car will level so different measurements either side!

last night i started the engine and put it into off road height left the engine running until it was all the way up then switched off and licked the car.

this morning without unlocking just measured at the same points and it hd gone down on its own?

Should not have licked it

haha just spotted that i knew thats where i went wrong

so any idea what could be causing the messages?

have a read/search in the tech and maintenance sections for eas and suspension faults, there's loads on this subject .. .. ... - .- -.

If you drop your fattie down to access mode then raise it to off road height does it go up ok? Does it say "raising slowly"?
I had a split airline connector that caused my fault. As said before, it will drop in height overnight so don't use that as a test.  Previously..
Vogue SE TD6
Defender 90 2.4
Defender 110 TD5
Vogue 3.5 EFI

^^ should raise smoothly, best to do it after a run, as the compressor will have fully charged the air reservoir. Once you have used all the air up it will go up slowly, so dont expect to repeat access to offroad over and over again without it displaying raising slowly.

Do it once, after a run. Then run it leave it for a bit then try. Result should be the same.

Then put it in off road height and have a listen round the car for leaks, in the boot well also. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Ok just went on a 70 mile run no issues until 58 miles then suspension inactive max speed 30mph no lights on height selector.
Car still drives fine pulled over message disappeared and all lights back on selected access mode went straight down then full height mode and back up completely normal?

I did notice the other day whilst cornering slowly the traction control light flicked on abs sensor?

I am going to give the wheel arches a good clean out and make sure the sensors are clean and see how it goes on the way home.

Failing that can anyone recommend a good independent LR mechanic near Chertsey surrey?

Ok spoke to Addlestone garage and they gave me the number for a guy called Barry at Thameside Automotive in Shepperton.

Plugged my Fatty into his diagnostics and it showed loads of old faults but one in particular steering angle sensor.

He reset the codes and told me to have a drive around for the next few days and see if the fault returns.

He spent nearly an hour checking things and seemed very knowledgable and best of all only charged me £30!

Will defiantly be using his garage again!
