Where is the relay for the heated steering wheel?

As above - mine has stopped working, fuse is fine . I'm hoping it's the relay but I don't know where it is to test it? Can anyone help? I have searched previous posts and they point to RAVE which appears to not have the location (according to old posts) and is also no downloadable from the wiki link- can some one point me in the right direction? Or show a photo ! I've heard it's near the fuse box somewhere ? 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

Cheers do you know how to get the fuse box out? And when it's out which relay is the one for the steering element? 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

I'm guessing the fuse you took out was Fuse 29 … Thumbs Up

Yeah checked fuse 29 - sorry if this is a dumb question but is the relay likely to be attached to the rear of that fuse? The RAVE download won't work for me! 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

Feed from the positive battery terminal (C0192) is supplied to the steering wheel relay and fuse 53 of the passenger compartment fuse box (C0632) on an R wire. Fuse 53 (C0583) is connected to the ignition switch (C0099 on Td6 vehicles, C0028 on V8 vehicles) by an R wire. When the ignition switch is turned to the 'ignition' position, current flows across the switch (C0099 on Td6 vehicles, C0028 on V8 vehicles) to the steering wheel relay coil (C0585) on a G wire. The steering wheel relay coil (C0585) is earthed on an N wire.
Steering Wheel Heater
The energised steering wheel relay provides a feed to fuse 29. Fuse 29 (C0582) is connected to the rotary coupler (C0374) by a GB wire, allowing the rotary coupler to provide a feed to the heated steering wheel ECU (C1948) on an N wire. The steering wheel ECU is earthed via the rotary coupler on an R then N wire.

Ahh, steering wheel is probably buggared then... Changed mind last week with the same symptoms... Luckily still under manufacturers warranty... Can you borrow a wheel to check both box and wheel...

Mine is doing the same, on for 2 seconds then switches off... I just took it that the element was gone in the steering wheel. I take it that this is quite a common fault? Might treat myself to a new one, but to be honest, I really can live without it. Previously..

Hi posted this under "Heated steering wheel problems" but no replies received, so reposting here in the hope somebody has a pointer!!

"2003 L322 Range Rover Vogue.
Seen many people ask about this problem, switching on steering wheel heater red light only stays on for one or two seconds'.... OK remedy has always been to change steering wheel, I have done this and still the fault continues.
I have had both the old & new steering wheel tested and the heating elements in bothy are said to be 'fine', so ruling out the Steering wheel itself as being the problem.
12v supply appears to be OK as well.

Any ideas, could it be the ECU itself or the relay? A seperate relay is advertised here but I cannot track down the ECU for replacement!!
Reference on ECU is TRW61278000B, it looks fine but then how do you check it?

Any help or pointers here greatly appreciated."

Mark, sorry mate - this problem for me was fixed by replacing the entire steering wheel . Sorry I realise that doesn't help but didn't want to leave you hoping I had the solution! 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

I managed to track down a second hand ECU, the one that sits in the steering wheel about matchbox size, swapped the units over everything now works fine
I did try to see if a new ecu was available but no only as a full steering wheel exchange, and two ecu repair centres said this unit could not be repaired.
Thank goodness for ebay and the internet Thumbs Up
