Im pretty sure i had a britax one which was either front or rear facing and would take them upto a pretty respectable weight.

Leg room must be an issue if rear facing after 9 months......we had the same back/forward style one that did my eldest from 0-3 and the youngest is in it now. Its hard to stop them kicking the front seats, so god knows how you get sufficient leg room for older kids facing backwards! '08 Audi S6 Avant 5.2 V10 with Milltek non-resonated. Vrrrrrrmmmmmph

Aye, they are pretty close to the seat back. I think with the isofix you get a bit more room but the passenger seat needs to be moved forward a good bit as well.
