Hi All

Just taken my 2010 Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 on a long road trip around The Scottish Highlands, the first long burst since I bought it in June. 1800 miles, averaged 28 mpg and it purred along beautifully, except for some strange noises from up front which were heard on occasion.

I've heard the noise before and it sounds like a 'whoosh', or as my wife put it, 'the sound made when you blow over a bottle top' , lasts for about 1-2 seconds and whilst its audible, there is no drop in engine note or revs and no hiccup in the power delivery or any warning lights flashing. It only seems to happen on hot days, when the sun is shining and only at around 2000 rpm/70 mph.

I'm guessing it is normal, but I'd love to know what it is. Any ideas?

If it was the turbo, surely there would be a drop in power and the warning light would show?

This noise is very intermittent and has only really manifested itself on hot days. If it is the Turbo, that worries me, but then again, within 3 months of purchase so up to the dealer (LRMD) to sort out.

Mine does it too. Wind over bottle is accurate subscription of the noise, and usually comes after lifting throttle after a squirt up a steep incline. I put it down to recycling valves dumping boost pressure. They are controlled by rubber diaphragms so similar to one way valve in your household hose pipe (if you have one)  TDV8 Vogue SE 2009.
TDV8 Sport. Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!
