United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

Hi everyone,
Just joined after lurking for a few weeks trying to see whats involved in getting my first FFRR.
Never had one before, always had Fords, but looking to treat myself. Very Happy

Ideally looking for a MY07 4.2SC black exterior with cream interior but not found one yet, may have to settle for the previous model.

Anyways I'm sure I'll be back looking for advice on how to look after whatever I find...

Mike

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

Ah Alfa Romeo, my old love. In the same reliability league as the FFRR so you will feel right at home. I had a string of Alfas (Alfasuds, Alfettas, Guilietta and 164) and loved them. Had the usual issues with some of them and no issues with others (the 164 was bulletproof).

On FFRRs, the search option is your friend as there is a lot of info available here, including buyers guides in the Wiki and at other places.

I also had a rental XC90 in the Swedish winter and can't fault the bloody thing for one second, it really served us well (once I figured out the fuel burning heater).

The SC is my personal favourite FFRR (despite the many issues I have had) and your colour scheme is my preferred as well (couldn't find it here so "settled" for the Zambezi ex and black interior).

SCs are pretty bulletproof although have a look at my posts for some issues that you should be aware of, namely the various oil/coolant heat exchangers (gearbox and engine oil, both have failed on my car).

Rear calipers are a cheap "failure" in the SCs, so replacing them or keeping an eye on them is wise. I suggest preventive replacement is the best, same as with the heat exchangers.

Gearboxes on the SCs are pretty bulletproof (they are used in many other brands and seem to do fine), although again, I am still having a rather annoying issue that still is not sorted out (still trying to find the cause).

Engines seem to be very strong and the suspension as well. The odd failure of the suspension airbags is an issue you see with all the FFRRs. Age seems to be the main culprit and I guess heat also accelerates the demise. Compressors is a potential weak point when they get older but refurb kits can be found (on here Meerbusch does a comprehensive kit).

Good source for cars is forum sponsor Gary Elliot and Cam Tech Craig gets top marks for repair and maintenance as well as conversion projects.

Good luck with the hunt. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Afternoon

I just signed up having been a casual reader on here for a year or so, I'm ready to step back in to Land Rover ownership I think!

I have owned a lot of Land Rovers, early Series through to a Discovery 2 a few years back, I also used to instruct at Land Rover Experience many years ago so my eyes are open!

I am British but work extensively in some of the worlds most unpleasant places, when I'm not at work though I split my time between the UK and Sweden where I have recently bought a couple of small places in the far North.

Currently I drive a Mercedes C63 AMG estate, I love it but it has been in storage for the last year as it just isn't practical for the roads up in the North of Sweden, so, it's time for a FFRR to take on the role of running backwards and forwards from the UK and for the C63 to find a new home.

I hope to take advantage of the great information on here and will no doubt be asking for advice pre and post purchase.

Have a good Sunday.

Mat

Hello!

Hi, new to the site (great place btw, been reading up for a couple of months now) and planning on buying a FFRR Vogue or Vogue SE in September. I'll be looking for a grey or silver TDV8 with 80-100k miles on the clock, to be an everyday car and for towing the missus' horsebox/my glider around. Budget is up to £20k.

My current motor is a ten year old Audi A4 Avant, 200,000 miles and it's been a great car, but a V8 and leather interior beckon Smile. Plus working aircon Very Happy ...

Cheerio, Fanders

Thanks, that one looks perfect although I can't complete on one until Sept. Hopefully there will be a few good ones knocking around then.

2005 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Tangiers Orange

OK, first post - won't be the last !

As you'll see from my avatar - I'm a RRS at present !

BUT, only because they don't do the FF in the orange colour I like ! But, I'm now considering going back to a FFRR supercharged - the RRS is really only a toy in comparison !

But, what colour? and don't say black, white, silver or grey - I like to be different !

2010 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Alaska White

Hi,

to all fellow full fatties!

been lurking a while and just bought a 2010 SE.

being an SE its got quite a few toys on but the 'must have' for me was deployable side steps so i bought some for £1700 & £330 fitting Shocked .

they look cool but frankly wish i hadn't bothered. the car had no steps on when i bought it and after a week of getting used to 'the climb' to get in, the steps' time to deploy can be a pain (literally). when you open the door from the inside in order to exit the vehicle its easy to forget about them and climb out only to get a whack in the leg as they deploy Big Cry . the upshot is that you have to exit more slowly.

apart from that the car is great to drive Very Happy
