Phone bracket to have phone "looking" through the

Does anyone know of a nice looking, easy to install phone bracket that allows the phone to look over the dashboard through the windscreen??

My phone has an app on it that operates the phone like a car camera with all the trimmings, like adjustable duration loop recording, adjustable g-settings for keeping the file, manual file keeping etc. Currently I use a small vent clipped magnet that works very well but the camera doesn't "see" anythying. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Have you seen Brodit products, I have used them for years, massive selection of holders and usually a choice in mounting locations. Not the cheapest but great quality.

Update on the app.

I tried it twice on my Galaxy S2 and it crashed both times after initial recording beeps. I could have been the heat sitting in the windscreen, deleted it anyway and will try something else.

Thanks for the Brodit tip !!

Sorry to hear it crashed on the S2, I am running it on the S3 maybe it takes too much out of the processor(s). I suggest to re-install it once to see if that makes a difference (corruption during first download ??). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I've got an iPhone and I use the tomtom car kit. I've used it to record certain journeys (dont ask) and it works a treat.

ebajema

did you get what you wanted?
i have looked at the brodit web site....and I cannot see much that allows an iPhone to be mounted so it looks through the windscreen.

I think this works OK for certain long journeys, but isn't a substitute for a dedicated dash cam.

I used to use my GoPro occasionally, but generally couldn't be bothered, so it only got used on very long journeys.

I've not got Blackvues in my cars, they record as soon as the ignition goes on and record every journey without me needing to do anything.

Costs more money - but ultimately, I'm far happier with the solution.

I have just received my Proclip for "high" mounting. With the Galaxy S3 skin holder, also from Brodit I'm hoping for the right result. We are flying home tomorrow and I plan to install it next week. Will keep youz posted. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Yep and it feels quite sturdy and well made. It was a great tip.

I still plan to get a cam like yours that is installed near the mirror or behind the mirror etc. but this is perfect for now as a normal car kit and dashcam.

I also installed my gooseneck bracket for the tablet but it is quite springy (the home made bracket that clamps under the rails) so I have to make a new bracket but now I do know what to do Smile So I can have a 10 inch touchscreen Nav system in the car to replace the utterly useless JLR system that doesn't do discs for Africa (apart from bloody SA but who needs that, they have great roads and good signs) MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
