just what is included in a dealer service? please.

just what is included in a dealer service? i wonder as i am not going to a dealer as i have always serviced myself, and looked to indy's for stuff out of bounds etc. i know that an oil service is 'just the engine oil' (is it?) and we should also change the gearbox oil and draw off the brake fluid and push through some new, and coolant too. i have done some good work on mine, and only have the diffs to look at and some power steering fluid etc. and thats all fluids etc. --but do they do anything else? apart form reset the indicator? mine has (bought at)145k and all dealer history to 130k
secondly, is there a list of check items for the inspection 1 + 2 (mine is BMW engine VCool so apart from general mot items, like bushes, moving parts etc, corrosion, safety etc. is there a list that us commoners can peruse and check off ourselves. just so we can see the obvious, and get help if needed. and service ourselves! there's no way mine's going in for a £1000 after vat '1hr on the ramp' with a fag toking dealer mech. tapping a few bits, and ticking the box stamping it done! if anyone has a list or shedule, i think we would all read it! thanks.

that's great! -and it just shows you what you get for your money too! -(on an inspection) -i think our own yearly MOT is actually more thorogh than this, ie abs/headlamp aim/airbag system checked....(obviously apart from all fluids,) and this costs under £50. i always ask for any tips on what is likely to need attention straight after, as the guy i use is quite helpful. ie imminent problems, not YET causing issue, like rotten exhaust, underbody grazing, or even common range issues he sees. i have never been at the sharp end of range ownership, where the service record has to be in tip top condition, to keep so called car value at its peak. -whereas many of these owners cant even open the bonnet! -I can and will, do this work myself, and bask in the pile or £20 notes left over, to fettle my range, and buy some LPG to enjoy my pride and joy. thanks for posting this. i'm sure many will print it off!

The 2006-2008 version I found says LRNA (Land Rover North America), so there wouldn't be a TD6 version. (JLR has never sold a diesel Land Rover/Range Rover over here.) How about taking a copy to a JLR dealer so they know what you're talking about and asking for the relevant version? They must have one somewhere.

Plenty in there to go on, thanks.

Im in the process of getting my local 4x4 specialist to do a gearbox oil change on my td6 as im presuming its never been done in its lifetime (93K on clock). Ive spent the past week reading on here all about the box and problems et al, mechanical sympathy and so on but Im still teetering on 'should I shouldnt I' as its not broken so should I fix it ?

First question the guy asked me is what box is on the motor, is it the ZF box and as I have been busy reading on ffrr I told him its the GM box so he gave me a price based on that but I was guessing LoL. Ive just saw this http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post105033.html#105033 in the wiki that I assume would inform me of exactly whats in the motor but unfortunately its not working for me Crying or Very sad
