The bracket I got stops the lower part of the boot from shutting when moving the tyre out of the well.

It fits on the lower boot catch and slots "into the groove" To quote Madonna....

Thanks Trev. Fitted the strap yesterday with no problems. Great write up on the other thread. Do you find that when lowering the wheel it brushes the compressor housing?

I tried fitting the bracket but it doesn't fit well in the latch. Does one end go in between the locking kechansim on the lower tailgate? MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

Hi shalz -

I don't know which wheels / tyre diameter you have, but on my car (19" & standard tyres) there was a little tweaking of the spare with the straps extended to stop the wheel rubbing the compressor. Just move it a little, lower the tailgate and try again.

The tailgate locking prop thingy was the one pic I didn't show on the fitting thread as bizarrely you need to know to order it separately from the other parts. You'd have thought it was all one item

I've got the standard 19 wheels too. I'll have a bit of play and hopefully get it right. When I fitted it, if I got the wheel in place where it wouldn't brush the compressor, it didn't settle in the centre for the lock to go in so still had to adjust after. Having recently removed my spare wheel without the aid of the lifting strap kit, a modification is in order!

Can you still do the kit (straps, bolts, tailgate prop etc.) for £38 inc VAT and delivery?
