England 2002 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Zermatt Silver
manual gear change

any one help

my gear box drives changes gear and everything it is suposed to in auto mode but will not change to manual it carries on as normal in auto when the gear leaver is pushed to manual. also the display on the dash does not change from D

could this be some kind of switch failure or do i fear the worst, as i say no lost gears in auto

any ideas or has some one seen the fault before

thanks all Bow down 02 Range Rover HSE Zambezie silver 4.4

Once you've moved the gearlever over to lthe left ('Sport' mode) are you then nudging the lever forward and backward to change gears up and down? Not sure you should be reading this bit.

It will stay in 'D' until you select a gear...try and move lever forward and back like a tiptronic

thanks all

i do move the lever as though i was changing however nothing actualy does change Sad

i am inclined to think that a sensor is duffed is there one to detect the leaver in sport mode and then the up and down sensors take over ?

thanks 02 Range Rover HSE Zambezie silver 4.4

On your year and model, when you flick it into sport mode the green D stays lit on the dash. The LCD should say "sport mode", and when you toggle back and forwards, the gear numbers light up on the green display.

If nothing is happening, it does sound like an alignment problem with the linkage or a sensor issue - nothing too expensive... I hope Java with Ivory 2006 4.2 Supercharged. 23.5k miles - NOW SOLD!
