I am no expert, but I upgraded both desktop and laptop to W8 and immediately installed the free "classic shell" program - it works faster than W7, is supposed to be more secure than W7 but looks and acts like W7 - best of both worlds in my opinion, and as already mentioned above, when MS bring back the start button you can choose to uninstall classic shell. |

So if you have W8 pre-installed how do you install "Classic Shell" then? Genuinely interested |

I'm costing up a global 6500 device desktop upgrade and we'll be going W7, W8 is just too big a jump for business users that have no need for the Metro oriented functions W8 is designed around. As much as I like technology, I'll happily stick with W7 until it goes end of life in 2018(ish).

We are doing a full upgrade of our systems (only some 600 users worldwide, excluding the vessels). Office 365 implementation, new servers/firewalls etc. But no W8, we plan to stay with W7 until W8 is seriously debugged and more user friendly.
