On mine, if you only open the boot using the 'Land Rover' button, the the boot automatically locks when closed - very dangerous for locking keys in, I've nearly done it on a couple of occasions 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

It is the same on my car, unlock only the boot and it will relock when you close it. I keep my keys in my pocket when I do that, to prevent the "oops". MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Ok, mine's the same then. I will now take more care.

Twice this year I've been up sh*t creek without a paddle when I've lost the only set of keys to one of my other vehicles. Fortunately they've turned up eventually, although eventually was 6 months for one of them. Laughing

Good reason to simply unlock the car rather than boot....

n°1 - Never unlock just the boot
n°2 - Always have your keys in your pocket (to prevent dropping them in the boot while packing)
n°3 - Always have a spare key when on holiday
This happened to us in the south of France and we had to smash the rear window (very hard to actually), the insurance took in charge the replacement.

Locked mine in the boot in Cornwall last year & I had to drive 3 hours home and back again to get my spare key! Felt like a right tw4t all the way!!!

Luckily I had spare keys cut for our house that day & put them in my wallet!!!

I had my keys knicked with my jacket when I was abroad & phoned the land rover assistance guys, they met me at the airport and got in the car by prising open the top of the tailgate slightly, fishing out a few wires and then using a wire with 2 sharp probes he shorted out the tailgate lock, then he crawled in and did something with the transmission to allow it to be put in N to get it on the tow truck, he said there is no other way of getting in, I had forgotten to pick up the spare key from the dealer so had to hire a car and drive 150 miles to get it Whistle

I think that cutting a spare blade, just the blade, would be a smart move and either keep it in your wallet of find a safe and secure spot on the outside where you can stick it in case of emergency. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
