I Don't Believe it - Flat Battery!!!!

Well, out the house for the first proper drive this morning and guess what? Flat battery!

Now waiting for LR breakdown to come out. Reading other notes on here it sounds to me like I may need a new battery. The only thing I did differently this morning was to put the pre-heater on - literally for just the 5 minutes it took me to get my shoes on and grab my things. Didn't particularly need it on, but thought I would give it a try.

If the car can't cope with the heater on for 5 minutes than I reckon the battery is shot. Either that or the car's not charging it up. Sad

I used the pre-heater for 30 minutes every morning throughout the winter and its starts first turn every time. Get a new battery and have the charging circuit checked if the problem persists. The correct battery in good condition can cope with ALL you can throw at it.

People sometimes forget when they take delivery of their car that's it's not been used much so hasn't been getting the charge it needs, and will have been moved about the dealer forecourt all the time, unlocked, locked, power up, power down etc but no distance or time covered.

Why do you think the dealers are always using those boost start machines! Big Cry

This can easily kill a battery off. Discovery 4 HSE

Oh well, all sorted!

Good service from LR Assistance and the technician that came out was excellent. All charged up, battery checked over and it's received a clean bill of health. I'm nervous about using the pre-heater again though!

Just the dvd and remote issues to sort now and I'm there!

Use the pre-heater its great and works fine. If it does not then your battery is not right and it needs replacing.

Thanks. I normally do 150 miles a day. Did that yesterday, so we'll see how I get on.

That's the same as my commute, difference being I don't have to do it every day!

With regards to the rear seat ent' remote control. The remote is inactive when the front screen is showing the 2 rear sides selection panels, as it means the driver is controlling what the rear screens can see and what they can hear.

once this is cancelled out the remote controls the rear screens, using the slide switch on the rear of the remote you select which screen to control. I had the same issue with mine and thought it was foooked. Whistle Discovery 4 HSE

Cracked it! Thanks, RRUK you are the truly the master, the Obi Wan of remotes. This has been driving me nuts! Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down

The L/H side red light on the remote is still permanently lit though and I think this is why the batteries were dead. How do you actually turn the remote off (i.e., put the red light out)? I've tried putting the switch in the middle and pressing in the arrowed direction, but light stays stubbornly on. Also, the R/H side doesn't seem to light at all, but I can control the screen ok.

BTW, like you, I don't do the drive every day, but at least a couple of times a week. Nice car to do it in though!

I'm not sure about the red light, maybe the remote is defective after all and needs replacing? I can't check my own cos the car is down in Solihull being trashed no doubt by the grease monkey technicians.... Discovery 4 HSE
