Do you not have the accessory socket in the cubby box that's constant 12V?

Without checking wiring diagrams so that it is absolutely clear what happens when you jumper the fuses, that's more than a simple bodge - it's a real potential for problems. Power flows both ways, so by jumping power from another fuse, you're potentially putting constant power across any one of a number of fuses that feed off the same spot the bridged fuse feeds off. At the very least, you're risking a dead battery. Add in something that draws heavy current from one of the other fuses on the feed and a thin jumper wire and it could even become dangerous. And, are you even sure of all of the rest of the items being powered by the cig lighter fuse?

If you are going to the boot then on the right hand side fuse bard there is a big fat contstant 12v feed in there you could tap off of.

Jumping a relay is a different story than jumping fuses - although same goes here: you need to know which circuits are getting power as there may be more switched on continually than just the cigarette lighters and you'll end up with a dead battery (why are they called 'Cigar Lighters' in BritSpeak - Churchill? Or is it the car: RR's(both kinds), Astons, and Jags have 'Cigar Lighters' whereas a Ford Mondeo has a 'cigarette lighter'? ).
