Dunlop Airspring + strut defect...

Hallo gentlemen, big problem: my 11 month old struts + airsprings are defect at their upper ball bearing, they make loud noises, when I use the steering at parking. Bought them at island4x4, on 28 of may 2012, good + fair company I believe? There is still one month warranty on them, so I order the DELPHI airsprings, only 20 GBP more p.p., had one of you still or in former times this problem? The noise is like a knock-knock of a defect ball joint front lower.

Hi Uli,

I've had mine for a little more than a year and they are still fine. I have replaced all bushings in the front suspension so I would have noticed if there was some strange sounds. ----------

I have Delphi's which are the only ones for the SC and they are fine. Sounds like bad luck that yours failed, should not happen but apparently quality control had an off-day. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I replaced mine with dunlops from the same shop and I am having clunks at the moment but thought it could be down to drop links or some such thing. Only noise when going over holes in the road, and not when turning. When I received dunlops , they seemed a solid quality item. MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand

the noise first seems to come from the lower part of the front suspension, but when I build the struts out, there is a very big "worn out joint top" (my englisch is not perfect). The man at island4x4 said, that I have to make pictures of the DUNLOP sign, and they don´t need the old struts back, there must be a serie of reclamations..., will see, an inform you all. So, problem solved, the correct and fair company ISLAND4x4 sended me money back for the old DUNLOP struts, and they don´t want them back, I will give them in the mood-basket..., but the company DUNLOP in GB itself is very arrogant and unpolite, after three mails no answer, and after next mail they didn´t believe me, and they said, that there was no reclamation ever... (here in germany, 5 guys have the same problem like mine after only 4 month!!!!) So conclusion: BIG WARNING FOR DUNLOP struts!!! Rgs, Uli (The Delphi are much better, drive like new without any noise) L405 SDV8 2017 + Lancia Flavia Coupe 1964 + RRS L494 3.0 SDV6 + C220CDI Convertible 2021

Hi Uli,

Sorry to hear Dunlop didn't come to the party, very disappointed in them for that. Glad that the Delphis are doing fine, hope they last till the car goes to the great big yonder, i.e. with the Ludolfs Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

@northernmonkeyjones, no it is one unit, not to open, because of the pipe from the suspension. Rgs, Uli L405 SDV8 2017 + Lancia Flavia Coupe 1964 + RRS L494 3.0 SDV6 + C220CDI Convertible 2021
