Flooding in central europe

I'm currently visiting Bratislava and so witnessing the floods first hand.

This is the view from my hotel window.

Actually, that's Prague, and I think it's photoshop.

This is the Danube yesterday.

This was 24 hours later. Look at the railings to see how much it's risen. Given the width of the Danube that's an awful lot of water.

This boat restaurant was listing quite badly. Decided not to eat there.

They had to evacuate the 'boatels'.

Some sand bagging defences prepared.

Couldn't work out why, but I just doubted the effectiveness of this.

This boat was moved since yesterday, otherwise certainly it's railings would've been touching the bridge and it may have been jammed under.

Lots of debris which together with the very strong current would've made swimming very dangerous. Instead I used the hotel pool, which was on the 11th floor and overlooked the river anyway.

Not all the pontoons survived.

Tonight/tomorrow morning is supposed to be high water mark, so this may be my last post before I drown. If so please bring a wreath in the shape of a life belt to my funeral. It's what I would've wanted.

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green

Ah, that makes sense. Can't say I blame you, Switzerland is a lot nicer than the UK from my perspective at least although they are all WAY too cold for my liking ! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I haven't swum in the Danube, but I have swum in the Rhine many times when I lived in Basel.

As you can see, it's popular. There are even showers by the side of the river. I sometimes even go topless.

Did anyone see the footage on the news where all the cars at a Land Rover dealer where pretending to be submarines... You could only see about 5 cm of the top of the doors and of course the roofs... The rest was completely under water; Defenders as well as Range Rovers... Shocked Mike.

I'm a big whore.

Actually, it's not so interesting. I work in IT for a finance company. I have worked for a couple of banks here before I moved to insurance. Snore...

And I've always worked in Englisch.
