Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a product to restore interior plastics eg where the load cover slides in and also exterior eg on the bonnet....ideally a cutting compound to remove scratches and restore shine.

Thanks

Wurth do some good plastic paint for the exterior. Depending on what your doing inside I'm sure this should be fine.

I use Meguiars PlastX which i use on the pillars, back of mirrors and the strip on to of rear bumper.

I would recommend it. I apply with a small sponge and then rub off with clean cloth.

Gtechniq C4 is very expensive.. As reported, I used this on the plastic tray between the front windscreen and the bonnet about 3 weeks ago.. It now looks rubbish again. Faded pastic and annoyingly unsightly... I used the C4 on the roof antenna and it still looks fine... Disappointing unless I've prep'd it wrong... Banging Head

Shocker, I was literally about to order that as seemed like the perfect stuff to sort that faded panel at bottom of windscreen!?

Did you prepare with isopropyl alcohol stuff...

Reviews seemed so positive ?? Neutral Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

A detailing world user says of Gtechniq C4, to use:

'IPA = IsoPropyl Alcohol

I've bought mine on ebay, and got the very high strength stuff. Have a look at listing number eBay Item No. 130542507915 for a bit more info.

For general cleaning I dilute it 50:50 with water from a dehumidifier, but cheap deionised water from Wilkinsons or the like is fine.

It's fantastic stuff for getting all kinds of things ultra clean. And if you haven't used IPA before C4 I reckon you haven't seen how good C4 is...'

Seems like a lot of hassle for a bit of plastic! Censored

I heard that using a heat gun or peanut butter on the greyed plastic trim will restore it to look like new. But some reports say it does not last. Anyone tried it?

I use peanut oil (not butter) on my wife's old Discovery II.
Embarassed
Works a treat and has lasted at least a year! Used it on the exterior rubbers and exterior black plastic.

Just applied it with a folded up paper towel.
