hmm If you want a partial install (which I might try) you could use the existing HU and use Intravee II to connect the iPad (I think) just like you do iPhone.

This is the exact option I have just been discussing with my friend, I can't see why this wouldnt work. I'm going to look if the company could just create the housing for the iPad to go in front of the OE screen. That way when you want to use the iPad you can, but if you forget it, you still have access to the original system.

Hi Ash,
http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic15270....av+upgrade IMO, the unit you tried can be ok for a RR that has no nav (MID radio): it is really plug n play as the big connector is up front in this case and it provides more functions. And the MID fits in the glovebox much more easily than a full nav screen so you can retain the regular functions. I personally do not like the looks of any present aftermarket options in the L322 - these included as they look a bit cheap IMO - but def none of the Pioneer/Sony/etcetc or double DIN units available. You lose too much: - Steering wheel controls (yes some systems do work a little - but not all functions) - on board computer functions (mpg etc) - seamless integration with all other systems and a factory look. IMO, alternatives for the 02-04 RR are either a carPC like Joe or Mattstevenson (when he finishes) or/and an upgraded standard system with: - nav upgrade MKIV + custom firmware - Intravee - BMW ULF bluetooth - BMW eject box in the console for charging/better phone reception - either OEM or aftermarket dvbt (but only if the aftermarket tv is controlled via oem switchgear - no remotes floating in the car) All just my opinions and everyone should do whatever wiggles the willy. I have all of the above and a carPC :-p RRC 2Dr, RRC 4Dr, P38, and 2 L322s (wife thinks I'm nuts - prob right, too) |
