2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Adriatic Blue
Intermittent engine cut out

Hi, I have a 2003 petrol Vogue (no modifications). Every few weeks the engine cuts out without any warning. On restarting it doesn't hold any revs and cuts out again. When I restart it again, revving hard, it idles correctly and I drive off. The are no warning lights illuminated.

I have taken it to two different land rover specialists and had the following work done; new crank sensor, new fuel pump, voltage faults in system identified and repaired, electrical thermostat fault repaired and air mass sensor fault repaired.

Is this a common fault and if so any suggestions on what I should look at next?

Thanks.

The engine cutting out, does that coincide with the fuel running low, say around 1/4 tank ?? It sounds like a fuel related issue and the long duration between stopping would sound like running the tank low. You must be doing little driving to take a few weeks to go through 3/4 tank though Rolling with laughter

Anyway, to me it sounds fuel related and in this case the balance pump that pumps the fuel from one side of the tank, over the hump to the main fuel pump. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
